LET IT BE KNOWN, that by a vote of the Rolling In Golf Club Board of Directors, and with a strong sense of admiration that the Club honors posthumously Julian Almany of Detroit, Michigan as he is celebrated for his dedication to Rolling In Golf Club and for his commitment and passion to the game of golf.

Julian Almany was the 10th member of the Rolling In Golf Club, and was an active participant in the inaugural year of the club in 2008. Julian continued his devotion to the club and its mission to promote, support and play the game of golf until his untimely death in September 2016. Known for his smooth swing, even demeanor and his skills in teaching all facets of the game, he was always willing to give advice to any player, but only if asked. A true golf competitor of considerable skill as well as social player, Julian was well informed about the physics and materials associated with golf equipment. He was a quick reference to the history of any club found in one's golf bag and  was particularly interested in  the emerging technology found  in golf equipment and golf course design. During the early years of the club's operations,

Julian assisted in the development of the club's tournament and team play. For many years (up and until the club had 36 members), Julian and his "gal" (Lisa), would get up in the early hours of the morning from their loft condo in Detroit and purchase fresh bread and lunch meat and make a variety of "gourmet" sandwiches for each member playing in the day's club event. At the end of year gathering, he would often have a small gift for each member, such as lessons burned to a cd', or a package of golf utensils or other golf bag goodies. In his private time, Julian loved to tinker with his VW Beetle that he totally rebuilt. Living in Detroit, Julian was enjoyable to be with socially due to his urban style and Southern California "aging hippie" tendencies. What especially made Julian a pleasure to know and be associated with on and off the course was that he never had a bad word to say about anyone, golfer or not. In summary: Everyone loved Julian.

IN SPECIAL TRIBUTE, therefore, this document is dedicated to the honor of Julian Almany and by the signatures of the Chair of the Hall of Fame Committee and President of the Rolling in Golf Cl · name to the Rolling In Golf Club Hall of Fame and his long-standing dedication and participation in the Rolling In Golf Club.

Julian Almany

2018 Hall of Fame Inductee

"Golf is deceptively simple and endlessly complicated; it satisfies the soul and frustrates the intellect. It is at the same time rewarding and maddening, and it is without a doubt the greatest game mankind has ever invented."   ..Arnold Palmer

Norm Goldner

2019 Hall of Fame Inductee

LET IT BE KNOWN, that by a vote of the Rolling In Golf Club Board of Directors, and with a strong sense of admiration that the Club honors Norm Goldner, Rochester Hills, Michigan as he is celebrated for his passion for the game of golf, Norman Goldner was a founding member of the Rolling In Golf Club in 2009.  Despite being an early "senior" in the club, Norman has always been known for his fluid swing and distance with his drives off the tee.  A student of the game, Norman has considerable knowledge of all aspects of the game of golf.  He is a true golf competitor; reaching the finals of the first President's Match Play Championship, and with regularity scores his age on the golf course.

Being a consistent participant in most all of the events of the Rolling In Golf Club, Norman sets an example for the "younger" members of the club in not only how to handle aging as an individual, but as a golfer, as well.  Trained as a Clinical Psychologist, Norm has a proper attitude towards life and golf, which serves as a model to all members of the club.  He is positive in his disposition, just in his dealings and fair in his assessments of the world that he lives, and especially as an active member in the affairs of the club.  He is appreciative of the leadership and efforts of those who make the Rolling In Golf Club a success, and his advice and suggestions on how to improve the club are taken seriously, and often acted upon by the Board of Directors or individuals assisting in an event.

What makes Norman a true Rolling In Golf Club Hall of Fame inductee, is that he is known for both being fun to be with socially and to play golf with.  He is appreciated for having a calming influence on his follow players who might be having a bad day on the course, and has a good inventory of jokes, some of which a slightly, but tastefully, "bawdy".  Despite his "hobby" of looking for stray balls, Norman maintains a fast pace of play.  His courtesy and etiquette on the golf course is nothing short of first class.

THEREFORE, In special tribute, recognized by the signatures of the Chair of the Hall of Fame Committee and President of the Rolling In Golf Club, Norman Goldner is rightfully and with the unanimous acclimation of the club's Board of Directors named to the Rolling In Golf Club Hall of Fame.

Rodney Cooper

2020 Hall of Fame Inductee

LET IT BE KNOWN that by a vote of the Rolling In Golf Club Board of Directors, and with a strong sense of admiration, that the club honors Rodney (Rod) Cooper of Oxford, Michigan, he is celebrated for his passion for the game of golf, and his longstanding dedication and participation in the Rolling in Golf Club.

Rod Cooper was not only one of the original members of the Rolling in Golf Club in 2008 but was also present at the founding discussion to create the golf club at the Dick-0-Dows pub in Birmingham, Michigan. Known for his fluid swing, and genuine spirit for the game, Rod is a serious student of the game, and has considerable knowledge of all aspects of the game of golf from equipment to course design. He is a two-time Masters Division Champion and sometimes single digit handicap golfer. From the founding of the club and until 2020, Rod was a member of the Board of Directors, and in his retirement from the Board continues to be a voice to the Board and planner/coordinator of many club events. From Rod's efforts on the Board, the club went from a few to a membership of close to 70.

Being a consistent participant and organizer in most all of the events since the beginning of the Rolling in Golf Club Rod has, and will always be known, as the voice and "go to "person of the club. His efforts and dedication of scheduling, pairing and working most every event over the many years that the club has been in existence has ensured positive results for the game of golf and the club members. The Rolling in Golf Club is a unique organization in the North American golf world and has been a success largely due to Rod's vision and perseverance. From the beginning, Rod understood that the Rolling in golf Club is more than a league, it is instead a private club, without real estate, with golfers regularly competing at a high level in compliance within the rules of golf at a variety of high-end public golf courses. Rod is consistently positive and enthusiastic in his disposition and does his best ( even under sometimes difficult situations) to be just in his dealings and fair in his assessments in all undertakings of the club. His advice and suggestions on how to improve the club have always been taken seriously and have often been acted upon by the Board of Directors or individuals assisting in an event.

What makes Rod a true Rolling in Golf Club Hall of Fame inductee, is that he is known for both being fun to socialize with and to play golf with. He treats all club members like golfers ( no matter their handicap), is a stickler for rules (but not beyond the occasional gimmies for others, and yes, certainly for himself) and despite being consistently adamant in his position on any given issue, Rod ultimately agrees with what is best, after reasoned discussion. Mature as a player, he is appreciated for having a calming influence on his fellow players who might be having a bad day on the course Oust don't play slow!). His courtesy and etiquette on the golf course is nothing short of first class.

His penchant for emails and texts are biblical and unlike any norms found in science, nature or the world of the internet. Yet, they do inform. Most revealing, one must follow the story of his missives ... especially up to and including the hour before a story becomes real or the first tee is scheduled. In fairness--events, players and weather do change. He is the club's best friend, a confident to many and a true golfer.

THEREFORE, in special tribute, recognized by the signatures of the Chair of the Hall of Fame Committee and President of the Rolling in Golf Club, Rodney (Rod) Cooper is rightfully and with the unanimous acclimation of the club's Board of Directors named to the Rolling In Golf Club Hall of Fame.

A Founding Father and Champion Golfer:

Scott wasn't just a member; he was one of the very first, instrumental in establishing the Rolling In Golf Club's legacy and was present at the founding discussion to create the club at the Dick-0-Dows pub in Birmingham, Michigan. His dedication continued through his years as president, culminating in the honorary title of President Emeritus. And let's not forget his prowess on the course! A Senior Stroke Play Champion and a regular on the lefty tournament circuit, Scott's talent is undeniable.  A student of the “flop,” he has a high degree of success with this difficult greenside shot.

Beyond the Green: A Man of Service and Community:

Scott's impact goes far beyond his scorecard. He initiated the beloved "Mayor's Yellow Ball Tournament," a cornerstone event on the club's calendar. His service as Past Mayor of Birmingham, Michigan, further exemplifies his commitment to the community. As a club delegate to the Golf Association of Michigan, he represented Rolling In with distinction.

Overcoming Challenges with Grace:

A true testament to Scott's character is his triumph over pancreatic cancer. This defining life event undoubtedly shaped him, and his perseverance is an inspiration to all.

A Man of Many Hats:

Scott's background is as diverse as his skillset. A lawyer by profession, he also trained for the ministry, showcasing a depth of character that extends far beyond the fairway. He established the President's Medallion Award, awarded to the annual match play champion in the signature club event, further solidifying his legacy within the club's competitive spirit.

A Spirited Addition to Any Foursome:

With Scott in your group, you experienced his good humor and lighthearted demeanor.  Even off the course, Scott's reputation as a great speaker at club events is well-deserved, his skill undoubtedly due to his background in politics, law, and the ministry.

A Great Leader:

Like most true leaders, Scott knew when to get involved in the many details and problems involved in running the club, but he mostly preferred to let the parties responsible arrive at their own solutions – an approach that has worked well for the Club for the last decade and a half.

Scott Moore is more than just a golfer; he's the embodiment of the Rolling In spirit. His dedication, passion, and sense of humor have enriched the club for years. We are pleased to induct him into the Rolling In Golf Club Hall of Fame!

More than just a player:

A student of the game, he also runs a golf league on the west side of metro Detroit.  Rob lives on the west side of town, far from where most club events take place, but still participates with only a minimum of complaining about the commute. He has introduced the club to several fine courses on what is the far side of town for many members – just what a good facilitator should do.  Rob also runs a very successful small business.

Good for all:

Playing in a foursome with Rob improves the play of his companions as he holds the group to a high standard of conduct and etiquette.  After a round with Rob, his fellow players feel as though they have played the game at a higher level, no matter what their score.  Rob is a serious golfer and makes others feel and act the same.

Rob McKay is more than just a golfer; he embodies the Rolling In Golf Club spirit. We are so pleased and lucky to have him as a member.  His dedication, passion, presence, and fine golf have enriched the club for years. We are pleased to induct him into the Rolling In Golf Club Hall of Fame!
